Proverbs 20:22
Say not thou, I will recompense evil;
but wait on the Lord, and he shall save thee.
When another person disappoints us, betrays our trust or breaks our heart, it can be maddening, unfair and agonizing to feel so victimized, while the perpetrator is seemingly free from the deep heartache of the circumstance.
More often than not, we think that we will feel better if the person who incites the pain then experiences the pain too, it is certainly not a godly one. We are not responsible for their convictions, or for creating consequences for their actions. We should consider this as a freedom from responsibility.
We have our own grief and pain to overcome, but this does not mean that we have to put others through the same pain that they've put us into.
Let God take over in that arena. We don't have to bother with revenge!
